How hard is your horse working?

A lot of horse owners over-estimate the level of work their horse is doing which often leads to overfeeding. Follow the guide below to help you decide how much your horse is really doing…

 

Maintenance – At rest, retired

Light – Hacking, schooling, low-level unaffiliated competitions

Moderate – Low level affiliated competitions, once weekly hunting, endurance riding up to 50 miles.

Hard – High level of affiliated competitions, twice weekly hunting, endurance riding between 50 – 75 miles.

Intense – Three day eventing, polo, racing, endurance riding between 75 – 100 miles.
