The Horslyx story

Horslyx Balancers

Horslyx Balancers were first manufactured in 1997 at our plant, based at Silloth in Cumbria. The debut product in the equestrian range was Original Horslyx and after initial success Respiratory, Garlic and Mobility Horslyx were introduced. In 2005 a bespoke extension was added enabling Mini Horslyx to be manufactured and today you can purchase Horslyx in packs ranging from 650g up to 80kg.  Recently Mint and Pro Digest formulations have been added to the range in size 650g, 5kg and 15kg.

Horslyx Balancers have been carefully formulated to balance the deficiencies in forage and grazing. This is a unique and innovative approach to ensuring that the modern horse receives an ideal supply of vitamins, minerals and trace elements to support optimum health and vitality.

A Balancer in a Lick?

Balancers are available in varying formats, from the lick of a Horslyx to the more common pelleted versions. They all have in common the fact that they are concentrated feeds; rich in vitamins, minerals and high quality protein containing essential amino acids, low in energy and are designed to balance the diet. This means that balancers can be fed in small amounts giving a horse all of their daily vitamins and mineral requirements without the extra calories. This method of feeding has much more in common with how horses evolved to eat, providing a trickle feed supply of nutrients, so helping to keep your horse healthier and happier.

Horslyx Balancers have been created to provide the goodness required for horses to remain in peak health

The horse evolved to eat little and often over the day, with the main part of the diet being forage. However, today’s forage is a far cry from that which our equine’s ancestors would have roamed on and grazed in history. While times may have changed, our horse’s digestive system hasn’t, and we need to take this into consideration when planning a feeding regime, ideally keeping the principles of a diet based mainly on forage with a trickle feed supply of nutrients provided to balance the diet to keep our equines healthy. For this reason, Horslyx Balancers have been created to provide the goodness required for horses to remain in peak health.
