Horslyx for your horse’s health and happiness

Horslyx Balancers have been used and trusted by horse owners worldwide for over 25 years.

Manufactured in Cumbria, our products are easy to use, cost-effective, and meet the strict BETA NOPS Code requirements for ethical sport.  At Horslyx our mission is to provide top-quality, nutritious feeds that enhance your horse’s health and vitality.

We understand horses – that’s what makes Horslyx unique. Our balancers are consumed in a lick format, as this is a natural approach to feeding a horse (remember the saying “little and often”?). By recognising that the horse evolved as a forage trickle feeder and by understanding the equine digestive system, Horslyx Balancers have been developed to provide vital elements of a horse’s dietary requirements.

Horses evolved to roam over large areas, grazing or ‘trickle-feeding’ for 16–18 hours per day. Today, horses are kept in relative luxury compared to their ancestors. However, the digestive system has hardly changed, so a horse still needs this trickle-feed supply of nutrients to remain in optimum health.
Horslyx Balancers have been carefully formulated to address the deficiencies in forage. This unique and innovative approach ensures the modern horse receives an ideal supply of vitamins, minerals, and trace elements to support optimum health and vitality. Promoting natural trickle feeding allows the horse to self-regulate and consume Horslyx when required

All Horslyx Balancers need to be licked, which takes time and patience. Horses only produce saliva when biting, chewing, or licking and saliva is an excellent natural buffer and lubricant within the gastrointestinal tract. This leads to better digestion, less stress, and a happier, healthier horse.

Horslyx is a range of equine feed and treats enriched with essential vitamins, minerals, and trace elements. Each product in the Horslyx range features a high-specification blend of vitamins, minerals, and trace elements designed to promote overall health and vitality. In addition, they contain high levels of oil, including Omega-3 from linseed oil, a formula for healthy hooves and powerful antioxidants.

Horslyx Balancers are ideal for all equines, both competition and leisure, stabled and grass kept, and are even suitable for laminitis prone equines when fed correctly.

There are six Horslyx Balancer formulations to choose from in a range of sizes with educational and recyclable packaging.

The inclusion of menthol and natural mint in equine nutrition is more than a flavour choice.

Menthol has long been associated with supporting clear, comfortable airways. Horses spending more time moving between stabling and outdoor work during spring may benefit from this kind of considered nutritional support.

Horslyx Mint Balancer combines the palatability of natural mint with a high specification vitamin, mineral and trace element profile, designed to complement a forage-based diet while encouraging a steady, natural licking behaviour.

Spring grass brings welcome colour to the yard but rapid changes in grazing can place real pressure on the equine digestive system.

As horses transition from winter forage to fresh spring growth, the shift in fibre content, sugar levels and fermentation rate can disrupt hindgut balance. Understanding this helps inform how we manage feeding during the season.

Horslyx Digestion Balancer is formulated to support hindgut health during periods of dietary change. Its inclusion of live yeast, prebiotics and a broad vitamin and mineral profile makes it a considered choice during spring transition.

Spring is officially here, and with it, the beginning of one of the most active periods of change for horses.

Seasonal transitions affect more than daylight hours. As grazing patterns shift and turnout increases, maintaining consistent nutritional support becomes particularly important.

Fresh spring grass is often lush but variable in its mineral content. Horslyx Balancers are formulated to complement forage-based diets, supporting essential vitamin and mineral intake as horses move through this period of change.

There is a lot of conversation about sugar in equine diets and it is worth putting the numbers in context.

A 500 kg horse consuming typical quantities of forage takes in considerably more sugar from grazing and hay than from Horslyx:

50 kg fresh grass — approximately 2,000 g sugar
10 kg hay — approximately 1,000 g sugar
250 g Horslyx — approximately 82.5 g sugar

Cheltenham week is a reminder of what consistent preparation looks like.

Performance at any level, from affiliated competition to weekend hacking, is built on the foundations laid day to day: management routines, gradual fitness progression, and nutritional support that keeps up with the demands of horses in work.

For horses covering more ground and carrying more load during this period, maintaining joint and muscle support is a considered part of preparation.

Horslyx Mobility Balancer and Core Balancer are designed to complement the diets of horses in active work.

Spring coat change is one of the most visible signs of the season turning.

The shedding process places increased nutritional demand on the body, particularly for trace elements, vitamins, and the nutrients that support skin and coat quality.

What you see on the outside is often a reflection of what is happening within. A well-supported diet during seasonal transitions can make a noticeable difference to condition, vitality, and overall appearance.

March marks a shift in routine on the yard.

As turnout begins to increase, horses move from winter forage toward fresh spring grazing, a transition that brings with it subtle but important changes in their nutritional intake.

Fresh grass can vary considerably in its mineral and vitamin content, particularly during early spring flushes. Supporting a consistent, balanced diet alongside forage helps maintain condition and wellbeing as the season changes.

Horslyx Balancers are formulated to complement forage-based feeding, encouraging natural licking behaviour and steady nutrient intake throughout the day.

Horses are natural grazers, designed to eat little and often throughout the day.

The licking action of Horslyx Balancers encourages a slow, steady intake, mimicking natural grazing behaviour.

This keeps your horse content while supporting healthy feeding patterns aligned with their natural dietary needs.

When turnout is limited and routines change, maintaining consistent feeding behaviour can help support wellbeing and everyday comfort.

Horses need sugar as a natural source of energy. The key is controlled intake.

A typical 500 kg horse consumes far more sugar from forage per day than from Horslyx:

50kg of fresh grass - 2,000g sugar
10kg of hay - 1,000g sugar
250g Horslyx just 82.5g sugar.

Horslyx is lick-fed, encouraging slow, steady consumption. Although it contains sugar, the amount eaten each day is small, contributing only a modest level to your horse’s overall diet.

✔ Slow, controlled intake
✔ Negligible starch
✔ Designed to complement forage.
